Division 12 - Entrance floor mats and grilles

  1. This information provides guidelines for walk off matting at interior and exterior entrances to buildings.  Temporary facilities and controls are covered in other parts of these standards or are available from the Facilities Development Operations (FDO) project representative.
  2. FDO project representative shall approve selection of materials, means, and methods.  
  3. Entrance Floor Grilles:
    • Recessed stainless steel bar grating with longitudinal bars running perpendicular to traffic flow and perimeter frame forming sides of recess; grating hinged for access to recess.
    • Recessed Frame: 1/4-inch-wide aluminum exposed top strip, zinc coated steel concealed bottom strip, 1 inch deep, with anchoring features. 
  4. Entrance Floor Mats: Preferred product is based on G4 PediTred or equivalent.
  5. Performance Criteria:
    • Loading: 1000 lbs rolling load.
    • Open area: Over 50% for dirt and moisture removal.
    • Customizable.
    • Convenient roll back ability by custodial staff for cleaning underneath.
    • Width Perpendicular to Traffic Flow: Full width of entrance door opening.
    • Pan: Anodized aluminum bottom pan with drain, sealed to frame.
