Division 28 - Fire Graphics Map

  1. This information provides guidelines for Fire Graphics Maps.
  2. Graphics Map Details
    1. Building Plans: Scaled floor plans must be permanently mounted adjacent to the annunciator panels. These plans should cover every building level, including Mezzanines, Attics, Roofs, and Hidden Spaces.
    2. Essential Information:
      1. Name and address of the building or business.
      2. North arrow for orientation.
      3. Fire alarm symbol legend to understand different icons.
      4. Date of map installation.
      5. "You are here" symbol indicating the viewer's current location.
      6. Clearly legible room names and numbers.
      7. Location of the Fire Alarm Panel.
      8. Location of the Annunciator Panel.
      9. Location of the Sprinkler Valve Riser Room.
      10. Location of the Mechanical Rooms.
      11. Location of the Electrical Rooms.
      12. Location of Sprinkler Riser Valves.
      13. Location and zone numbers of Areas of Evacuation Assistance.
      14. Location of Chemical Fire Suppression.
    3. Zone Identification:
      1. Segregation lines, hash marks, or shading to clearly delineate fire alarm zones.
      2. Fire alarm system notification zones should align with building smoke and fire zones (not required for addressable FACPs).
    4. Device Indications (for point-lit graphic annunciators): Discrete LED indications for each alarm and supervisory initiating device.
  3. Graphics Map Specifications
    1. Construction: The map should be durable, easily readable in normal lighting, and protected by a smooth, transparent plastic surface. 1/8” inch anti-glare acrylic pane.
    2. Size: Minimum Size 18" x 24" or larger if required to accurately represent the facility.
    3. Frame Color: Black or Silver, Red stripe optional however not required
    4. Paper Type and Print:
      1. Indoor Conditioned Space – Bond
      2. Outdoor Protected Unconditioned Space – Vinyl or Approved moisture resistant equivalent. White with black lines and lettering.
      3. Updates: Maps should be updated to reflect current building layouts after any construction or modifications that change the building layout or device placement.
  4. Graphics Map Location
    1. General Location: Located within 10 feet of the Fire Annunciator Panel.
    2. Graphics Map Mounting: Brackets shall be concealed using a hidden “T Screw” type   system for security.
