Division 32 - Site Clearing

  1. This information provides guidelines for site clearing. Treatment and disposal and temporary facilities and controls are covered in other parts of these standards or are available from the WWU project representative. 
  2. WWU project representative, Facilities Maintenance (FM), Public Safety Office, and Environmental Health and Safety Office shall approve selection of materials, means, and methods. 
    • Require means and methods that provide minimal disruption to adjacent building activities and operations. 
    • Prohibit blasting or burning as means for site clearing.
  3. When working adjacent to occupied buildings, require means and methods that protect occupants from exposure to noise, dust, traffic and other hazards.
  4. Clearly indicate contractor’s scope and limits of work to include:
    • Extent of clearing
    • Route of travel
    • Required barricading
    • Erosion control
    • Any limitation of hours of work
  5. Require protection of existing improvements, plants, and wetlands.  
    • Require penalties for tree damage.
    • Identify wetlands to be protected; coordinate demarcation in the field.
