Division 32 - Site & Street Furnishings

  1. This information provides guidelines for site and street furnishings, including materials. Temporary facilities and controls are covered in other parts of these standards or are available from the WWU project representative. 
  2. WWU project representative, Public Safety Office, and Environmental Health and Safety Office shall approve selection of materials, means, and methods. Unless otherwise approved, design intent requires means and methods that provide minimal disruption to adjacent building activities and operations. 
  3. When working on or adjacent to existing buildings, require means and methods that protect occupants from exposure to noise, dust, traffic, and other hazards.
  4. Benches: 
    • Manufacturer and models: Belson Outdoors “Trailside” backless bench and Belson Outdoors “Jameson” bench with back.

  5. “Trailside” backless bench has 4" X 4" recycled plastic Resinwood slat; “Jameson” bench with back has 3" X 4" recycled plastic Resinwood slats. Both have heavy-duty, powder-coated structural steel frames. Surface mount.
    • No arm rests.
    • Color: cedar
    • iv.    4', 6', or 8' length depending on location and discretion of the WWU project representative and Facilities Management Outdoor Maintenance Supervisor.
  6. Cast bronze recognition plaques may be mounted on benches and must follow the 2" X 6" standard template established by FD (square corners and edges, standard straight edge border). Other donor recognition sign options may be found under “DIVISION 10 Signs” in the Campus Standards and Guidelines.
    • Recognition may not reflect political or religious statements.

  7. Bicycle barriers: used to control bike access to walking trails in Arboretum. 

    • 8" X 8" treated wood posts, route top for yellow stripe, 3" X 8" horizontal bars, paint all wood. Heavy wood used to resist vandalism and weathering. “No Bike Signs” mounted on posts. 
  8. Bicycle Racks: 
    • “U RACKS ON RAILS with Lean Bar”.  Preferred manufacturer is Madrax, Model #U190-LB-6, Color Patriot Blue, tube size is 2⅜", ⅜" anchors. See FD project representative for more information and details.
